    Dear Fordham Law Community,

My name is Joe Landau, and I am thrilled to begin my tenure as the 12th dean of Fordham Law School today. It is a privilege to shape Fordham’s future, and I am eager to champion our continued success.

Fordham Law stands as a beacon of leadership and influence, driven by a renowned tradition of producing world-class lawyers. Since joining the faculty in 2010, I have been continually impressed by the quality of our scholarly community, the commitment of our professionals, and the achievements and dedication of our tremendous alumni. Our students demonstrate great intellectual curiosity and make a meaningful difference in the world. As dean, it is my foremost commitment that our students excel throughout their legal education and thrive in the vast reaches of the profession.

Fordham Law is well positioned to address the major challenges of our time, from the rapid technological advances that are transforming legal practice to the heightened polarization that is placing strains on legal and political institutions. We are a hub for exploring pivotal legal and policy issues on local, national, and global levels, and we are dedicated to empowering our students and graduates to engage deeply in crucial conversations while contributing to reforms that address our most pressing problems.

As a Jesuit institution deeply committed to service, we resolutely adhere to our values while maximizing our impact. This includes opening doors for students facing barriers to a legal education and ensuring a community grounded in inclusion. Our phenomenal senior leadership team embodies our commitment to excellence. Together, we will be entrepreneurial and community-oriented, advancing our defining principles, unique traits, and market position to take Fordham Law to even greater heights. As we unite our extraordinary community, I look forward to making our shared goals a reality.

It is such an honor to be Fordham Law’s next dean. As we prepare for the 2024-2025 academic year, I look forward to sharing our plans and seeing you at events at Fordham and around the world.

    Warmly,

    Joseph Landau
