Fordham Law Professor Cheryl Bader shared her expert opinion with Newsweek about whether former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani could find himself in jail for being in contempt if he does not surrender his assets by Friday, Nov. 15.

Rudy Giuliani, a former New York City mayor and close ally of President-elect Donald Trump, must turn over his possessions by Friday in a defamation case or he is “about to find himself” in jail for being in contempt, legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said on Saturday.

However, Fordham law professor Cheryl Bader, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday that she believes “jail is unlikely at an initial finding of contempt here,” but added that “the judge might warn Giuliani that a jail sentence is in his future if he continues to play fast and loose with the court.”
