For decades, China’s reform and opening-up era brought economic growth, political stability, and greater openness to both ideas and investment from the outside world. But in recent years, the country has shifted into what Carl Minzner, Fordham Law professor and National Committee Public Intellectuals Program Fellow, describes as an “age of counterreform.”
