On April 17, Fordham Law’s Public Interest Resource Center (PIRC) recognized nearly 300 students at its 32nd Annual Public Interest Awards Ceremony, celebrating their contributions to public interest work. Will Lanier ’23 is committed to becoming a lawyer who helps the underserved. Thanks to his Fordham law degree that he’ll earn this May, he’s almost there. “At Fordham, I learned not only how to interpret the law but also how to be a lawyer and a leader for everyone,” said Lanier. His path to law school was unconventional. Approximately 300 alumni reconnected with one another last month to celebrate one of the Law School’s beloved traditions—class reunion. Held April 20 at Fordham Law School, the reunion celebrated 10 classes ending in 3’s and 8’s as well as the Class of 2022. Fordham Law students Jose Olivares Blanca ’25, Ana Belzunce Crompin ’25, Ross Levin ’25, and Sonia Montejano ’24 traveled to El Paso, Texas, for their spring break with the Feerick Center for Social Justice Immigrant Justice Project. During the week-long trip, they had the opportunity to interact with individuals applying for asylum in the United States, as well as advocates providing legal support and shelter to asylum-seekers. The students partnered with Annunciation House, a local shelter, and Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. Fordham Law School welcomed 25 teams of law student oral advocates from 15 states to compete in the 48th Annual Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Moot Court Competition, held from March 24–26. For the past 48 years, the Kaufman Competition has offered students the opportunity to test their appellate advocacy skills before leading jurists, securities regulators, academics, and practitioners.
