Fordham Law welcomes 62 new graduate students for the spring semester—32 students in eight LL.M. degree specializations and 30 students in the M.S.L. Corporate Compliance program. This new group of students joins the 117 LL.M. students, 150 M.S.L. students, and eight doctoral candidates who are continuing their studies, for a total of 275 graduate students. Fordham Law School has named Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella of the Canadian Supreme Court the William Hughes Mulligan Distinguished Visiting Professor in International Studies for the Spring 2022 semester. The role honors Judge William Hughes Mulligan FCRH ’39, LAW ’42, who served as dean of Fordham Law School from 1956 to 1971 and as a distinguished jurist on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1971 to 1981. Stein Scholar Anthony Damelio FCRH ’08, LAW ’22 has been awarded a Skadden Foundation Fellowship, which will begin in the fall of 2022. The program, launched by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in 1988, provides two-year-long fellowships to talented young lawyers who want to pursue public interest law on a full-time basis. Shaquan Huntt ’20 has been awarded the Carey Gabay Fellowship in the New York State Governor’s Counsel’s Office. The Carey Gabay Fellowship is a paid two-year, full-time legal fellowship program created in honor of Carey Gabay, a former assistant counsel in the Governor’s Office and First Deputy Counsel to Empire State Development who was killed in 2015 by an act of gun violence. Ramya Jawahar Kudekallu LL.M. ’18 has never been one to shy away from speaking up or rising to a challenge. Her curiosity, coupled with the desire to engage with strategies around accountability in the search for justice, led Kudekallu to join the New York City Bar Association’s International Human Rights Committee in 2021. The Fordham Law School community is mourning the passing of Adjunct Professor Thomas D. Halket, a well-known figure in the international arbitration community who taught at Fordham Law for more than 15 years. Halket died on November 24 after a short illness at the age of 73.
