Fordham Law School is number 17 in this year’s “Go-To Law School” ranking by the National Law Journal. The publication ranks law schools based on the percentage of the most recent graduating class sent to the largest 100 law firms. Fordham Law School moved up four spots from its position on the list last year. One-third of Fordham Law’s J.D. class of 2020 secured jobs at the largest firms.

Fordham Law School announced today that Kimathi Gordon-Somers has been appointed assistant dean of student affairs and diversity. Starting on February 4, in his new role, Gordon-Somers will be responsible for strategic leadership, direction, and assessment for a spectrum of services designed to support student success, enhance engagement, and foster a diverse and inclusive community across a talented, motivated student body. Negotiation and mediation not only make appealing dispute resolution alternatives for lawyers, but they also teach valuable lessons in communication and empathy. To help teach those lessons, volunteers from Fordham Law School’s Dispute Resolution Society attend weekly sessions with high school students at Martin Luther King, Jr. High to instruct them in dispute resolution techniques like arbitration, mediation, and negotiation.
