Organizing Class Materials in Blackboard

0

Blackboard makes it easy to add and organize content in a course. LawIT recommends using the following content areas to organize and share course materials with the class:

  • Assignments
  • Slides
  • Recordings

If the instructor is using Echo360 to host all class recordings, then the Echo360 link is yet another area where students can access course materials.

Select the corresponding content area on the left (i.e. Assignment, Slides, or Recordings) and hover over Build Content and choose Create Item. To post a reading assignment for example, select Assignment and hover over Build Content and choose Create Item.

  • Name – provide a name for the assignment (e.g., read chapter 1 from text)
  • Text – specify what students should do to complete the assignment
  • Attachments – upload any necessary files (e.g., a PDF students should read)
  • Standard Options – make the assignment visible to students.

Click Submit when finished. A message bar will indicate the successful completion of the posting.

Another approach to organizing content is with Content Folders.

  1. Select a designated content area
  2. Hover over the Build Content and choose New Page > Content Folder
  3. Follow through by providing a Name for the folder
  4. The folder should now appear. Click on it then hover of Build Content and select Create Item
  5. Repeat the above steps to create additional Content Folders
Share.
