Note: only the meeting host can create breakout rooms and assign participants. Co-hosts and participants cannot configure this feature.
Breakout rooms can be used to create discussion groups within your class. As the Host you will be able to go between rooms to speak to each group as needed. You will be able to manually put people into a group or have zoom automatically assign each person to a group.
To create breakout rooms ahead of a Zoom meeting and pre-assign participants, the host may elect this feature during the scheduling of the meeting. If this is of interest, click here to view step-by-step instructions on how to pre-assign participants to breakout rooms.
Note, if the meeting is being recorded to the cloud, Zoom will only record the main room, regardless of what room the meeting host is in.
