Zoom’s polling feature is a great way to engage participants with multiple choice or true/false questions. Polls can be anonymous and the results can be shared live with the audience. The can create a poll before or during the Zoom meeting.
- To create a poll before a meeting, the host can either add the questions at the time of scheduling the meeting, or edit the scheduled meeting and add the poll(s) at the bottom of the screen
- To create a poll during a meeting, go to the bottom of the Zoom window and select the Poll icon and select Add
- Be sure to supply a title and configure the desired question
- Selecting Anonymous will hide the participants information
- Choose whether participants can make a single selection or multiple
- To create an additional poll, click Add a New Question
To launch the poll (display it to participants,) click on the Poll icon (looks like a bar graph) and select the appropriate poll.
Note, Zoom can only display one poll at a time. If multiple polls are configured, click on the drop down chevron and select the desired poll then click Launch Poll. Also, Zoom displays all questions in a poll when it is launched. If the desire is to ask another question later in the class then the instructor should make that a separate poll.
- To stop or end the poll, click End Poll
- To share the results with participants, click Share Results
At the end of the meeting, the host may download the polling results via a report. If this is of interest, follow these instructions.
