If you are not using Blackboard, consider leveraging it to distribute additional course materials to support your changing plan to shift online. Another easy and accessible alternative is Google Drive. You can easily use it to upload and share your updated syllabus and or supplemental readings. In a pinch, providing some new readings and related assignments may be your best bet for keeping the intellectual momentum going.
Considerations when posting new course materials:
- Make sure students know when new material is posted
If you post new materials on Blackboard, be sure to let students know what you posted and where. You might even ask that they update their notification preferences to alert them when new materials are posted. - Keep things mobile/phone friendly
Most students access materials using mobile devices. Make sure that the reading materials are created in mobile-friendly formats. - Accessibility
Materials should be accessible to all students including those with disabilities. You will want to think about adding alternate text to images, using standard fonts, and providing a transcript or close caption for videos. The Law Media Services team can assist with this.
