Over five hundred donors and alumni participated in the Law School’s efforts during Fordham University’s sixth-annual Giving Day on March 7 and 8. With the support of 501 donors, the Law School raised $378,689 in gifts and matching funds this year, exceeding its goal to raise over $1 million cumulatively from the annual event.

Giving Day at Fordham University runs for 1,841 minutes—over 30 hours—to honor the University’s founding in 1841. Funds raised are used to support key Law School initiatives, such as financial aid for students, resources for faculty, experiential learning opportunities, and more.

This year’s fundraiser included two matching challenges made by Law School alumni, both of which were successfully met. The first 250 individual gifts unlocked $100,000 in matching funds from Rich Ross ’86; the next 100 gifts unlocked an additional $50,000 from Paul Ostling UGE ’70, LAW ’73

“Giving Day is an excellent opportunity for our alumni to support the continuing evolution of our great law school,” said Ross. “While my specific giving focus is a program teaching professionalism and mentorship there are endless ways to pay it back. Together we build the strongest foundation for the future.”

Over the past five years, 2,400 members of the Fordham Law community have helped raise over $900,000 on Giving Day, leading to the development of the $1 million milestone.

“We are so grateful for the support of the community and our match donors,” said Vera Tkachuk, assistant dean for advancement and associate vice president for external relations at Fordham Law. “Their investment in our students helps ensure the Law School can continue to provide an unsurpassed legal education to future generations of Fordham lawyers.”
