New York Law Journal reported on Fordham Law School’s withdrawal from participation in U.S. News & World Report rankings. Fordham University School of Law is now the 24th school to withdraw from participating in the U.S. News & World Report education rankings, despite the news agency’s efforts to revamp the rankings. The Center on Asian Americans and the Law, Fordham Law School’s newest academic center, celebrated its formal launch on November 9. Co-directed by Senior U.S. Circuit Court Judge Denny Chin ’78, Lawrence W. Pierce Distinguished Jurist in Residence, and Thomas H. On December 21, President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Judge Robert Kirsch ’91 to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Judge Kirsch has served as a judge on the New Jersey Superior Court for Union County since 2010, currently serving as a trial court judge in the Criminal Division and previously serving in both the Civil and Family Divisions of the Superior Court. In addition to serving in various state and local leadership positions regarding juvenile justice, Judge Kirsch initiated a juvenile reentry program that was implemented statewide. Feerick ’61, Dean Emeritus and Norris Professor of Law, was honored alongside several other prominent Bronxites at the Heroes of District 34 Award Ceremony on December 19 for their contributions to and “immeasurable impact” on their communities in New York State Senate District 34 and the Bronx. Laura Petty ’21 has been awarded a 2023 Skadden Foundation Fellowship, one of the most prestigious and competitive for early-career lawyers working in the public interest. Launched by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in 1988, the program provides two-year-long fellowships to talented young lawyers who want to pursue public interest law on a full-time basis. For her fellowship, Petty will work at Advancement Project in Washington, D.C., beginning next fall. Petty has dedicated her life and career to supporting local movements for racially-just schools.
