Robert A. McTamaney ’70 published a Legal Opinion Letter regarding New York’s Martin Act, a law frequently used to exact major settlements from various financial institutions, and which is now being used to investigate Exxon Mobil for alleged inadequate climate change disclosures. Mr. McTamaney’s position in four Articles over the past 15 years has been that the Martin Act has been preempted by US Federal legislation, and should not be enforced at all. Joanne E. Bozzuto ’84 has been named as the Director of Finance and Administration of the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority Board (VIPFA). She has extensive public and private sector experience and, in addition to her legal background, is also a certified public accountant.

Seth J. Finkel ’84 ranked #10 among Barron’s “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” of New York. The New York-based Mr. Finkel, a managing director at Neuberger Berman, heads a wealth advisory team with $2.4 billion in client assets. Mr. Finkel has been with Neuberger Berman since 1990 and focuses on high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, fiduciaries, and not-for-profit organizations.

Robert M. Mercorella ’86 has been named to the Morgan Stanley’s Pacesetter’s Club, a global recognition of professional standards and client service. Mr. Mercorella, who has been with Morgan Stanley since 2013, is a financial adviser in the firm’s wealth management office in Westport.

Mary A. Tanona ’87 has joined Saint Vincent Hospital’s Board of Trustees. The hospital is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, where Ms. Tanona has been the associate general counsel for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences since 2012.

Cynthia Lo Bessette ’95 has been elevated to General Counsel of Oppenheimer Funds. She oversees the Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit functions at OppenheimerFunds Inc. and supervises the provision of legal, compliance and audit services to all of the company’s business units.

Joseph Cherico ’95 was named the managing partner of McCarter & English’s Stamford office. Mr. Cherico is a commercial litigator who will continue to focus his practice on creditors’ rights, including mortgage and lending disputes, and other business and financial services litigation, while working to strategically grow the firm’s presence in Connecticut.

Frank R. Monaco ’96 has joined Mayer Brown as a partner in its global Corporate & Securities practice and Insurance Industry group. His practice focuses on the following areas: insurance/reinsurance M&A, insurance regulatory, reserve financing, and monoline practice.

Michael E. Gilligan ’97 has joined Schulte Roth & Zabel as a partner in the M&A and Securities Group in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Gilligan was previously a partner at Hogan Lovells in New York. He focuses his practice on public and private merger and acquisition transactions.

Peter Nesvold ’97 has returned to Fordham as an Adjunct Professor in the Gabelli School of Business. Nesvold, who is the COO of a boutique investment bank, is teaching an MBA-level class on mergers and acquisitions.

Patrick F. Rice ’97 has joined Akin Gump as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice. Mr. Rice will be resident in Akin Gump’s New York office, where he will further strengthen and enhance the scale and scope of the firm’s private equity transactional capabilities.|

Stephen Castro ’98 has joined Norton Rose Fulbright’s New York office as a partner. Mr. Castro comes to Norton Rose Fulbright from Kaye Scholer LLP and focuses his practice on the financial services sector, representing syndicate agents, lenders, credit investors and private equity firms.

Jill Allison Opell ’99 has been promoted to partnership at Dentons. Her practice focuses on all aspects of insurance regulatory issues for insurance companies, agents, brokers and other clients throughout the insurance industry.

Scott W. Parker ’99 is celebrating the five-year anniversary of the founding of Parker Ibrahim & Berg LLC, a full service national law firm focusing on litigation, arbitration, and the full range of enforcement, transactional, and regulatory issues confronting businesses nationwide.  The firm has six offices across the country, and was voted by NJBiz as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey in 2014 and 2015.

Jessica D. Thaler ’99 is now a Regulatory Project Manager at Credit Suisse, where she collaborates with business and legal partners as well as tax and IT professionals to implement and manage regulatory projects. This position is a continuation of her prior role as contractor for the asset management department’s legal team.

Richard DeNapoli ’02 has been named Chief Trust Officer & Fiduciary Counsel of Coral Gables Trust, a Florida state-chartered trust company with over $800 million in assets under management and offices in Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

Ying Li ’02 has joined Steptoe & Johnson LLP’s New York office as a partner in the firm’s intellectual property group. Ms. Li counsels biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients on patent portfolio management and strategic development.

Brian E. Chebli ’04 has been promoted to Executive Director & Assistant General Counsel at JP Morgan Chase. He was previously the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel.

Regina Phillips ’04 has been promoted to partner at Goldberg Segalla, with her practice focusing on medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence.

Tracey K. Wishert ’04 has been elected to partnership in Riker Danzig’s Insurance and Litigation Groups. She focuses her practice on insurance coverage and insurance defense matters, and also has experience in all aspects of litigation.

Zachary Bernstein ’05 has been elected to partnership at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in the firm’s Real Estate Department. He represents owners and developers in real estate development and land use matters.

Charles V. Bilello ’05 is the recipient of the Charles H. Dow Award presented by the Market Technicians Association (MTA) at their 43rd Annual Symposium. Mr. Bilello is the Director of Research at Pension Partners, LLC, where he is responsible for strategy development, investment research and communicating the firm’s investment themes and portfolio positioning to clients.

Joshua Geller ’05 has been elected to partnership at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in the firm’s Corporate International department. He represents public and private companies in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Christian J. Klossner ’05 was selected to be the Executive Director of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement. The office is a multi-agency task force that uses inspections and nuisance abatement actions to address a variety of quality of life issues.

Shaun Reader ’05 has elected to partnership at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in the firm’s Corporate International department. He concentrates on the international and domestic legal aspects of professional investment management and also screens, structures and forms U.S. and offshore investment funds.

Bethany A. Abele ’06 has been elected to partnership in Riker Danzig’s Commercial Litigation Group. Ms. Abele represents title insurance companies and their insureds in a wide variety of actions, including coverage investigations, disputes between the insurance company and insured, and serving as retained counsel in dispute matters.

Brian Danitz ’06 has joined Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP as an associate, where he will focus his practice on civil litigation in numerous areas, including complex commercial litigation, securities, financial fraud, and antitrust.

Kristin A. Gore ’06 has been elected to shareholder at Carlton Fields. She is a member of the firm’s National Trial, Consumer Finance and Banking, Real Estate and Commercial Finance Litigation, and Telecommunications practice and industry groups, representing clients in business litigation matters in state and federal courts.

Douglas S. Heffer ’06 has been elected to partnership at Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Heffer’s practice is primarily focused on representing clients in complex commercial matters in both state and federal courts as well as in various modes of alternative dispute resolution.

Amanda B. Regnier ’06 is now the Assistant Vice President and Associate Wealth Strategies Advisor at U.S. Trust. She was previously practicing as a solo practitioner, providing legal services focused on estate planning, revocable and irrevocable trusts, asset protection, tax planning, and real estate transfers.

Vivian M. Arias ’07 has been elected to partnership at Thompson & Knight LLP in the firm’s Real Estate and Banking Practice Group. She focuses her practice on representing institutional lenders, including national banks, special servicers, and investment banks, in creditors’ rights litigation, insolvency, and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Richard A. Rubano ’07 has been promoted to partner at DLA Piper within the firm’s Global Media, Sport and Entertainment Group. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance and restructurings, with a core focus in the sports, media and entertainment sectors.

Gregory Kenyota ’08 has joined Patel & Almeida, P.C. as a trademark attorney. The intellectual property law firm, based in Los Angeles, California, serves clients nationwide in the areas of trademark and copyright law.

Anthe M. Vorkas ’09 has accepted a new position as in-house counsel with the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA). Prior to joining the NYCLA, she was an associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.

Kristina M. Allen ’10 has returned to the New York office of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, where she worked as a law clerk during her 1L summer before starting her practice as an associate with McGuire Woods LLP. Ms. Allen’s practice covers several aspects of commercial and financial services litigation.

Nate Asher ’10 has been promoted to Counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP. His diverse practice includes complex civil litigation, white-collar defense, financial services litigation, antitrust, regulatory investigations, securities, mass tort, and corporate counseling.

Christelle Dorcil ’10 has joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as the Professional Development Manager for the firm’s Antitrust practice group in the New York and Washington, D.C. offices. In this role, Ms. Dorcil combines her background as a practicing corporate attorney with her leadership, diversity and communications experience to oversee a variety of professional development matters and projects for attorneys in the practice group.

Mary Whelan Lovely ’10 and her husband, Christopher Lovely, welcomed a daughter, Emily Catherine, on January 5, 2016. Emily joins sister, Claire Ellen, who will turn 2 on May 25th. Claire and Emily are the granddaughters of William J. Whelan, III (Law ’83) and Susan Marren Whelan (Law ’84). The Lovely family resides in a suburb of Houston, Texas.

Suhaill M. Morales ’10 has joined FordHarrison LLP’s Miami office as a Senior Associate. Ms. Morales devotes her practice to working with employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters.

Claire Dekar ’12 has joined Maersk Services USA Inc. as the Associate General Counsel. She was previously an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Tessa B Harvey ’12 has joined Binder & Schwartz LLP as an associate, focusing her practice on complex commercial, financial, and bankruptcy litigation.

Patrick Sweeney ’12 is now Trial Counsel at US Army Judge Advocate General Corps. He was previously the Labor Attorney and has been with the US Army since 2013.

Stavros Karageorgiou ’15, a commercial litigation associate at Farrell Fritz, will be receiving a Pro Bono Recognition Award from the Nassau County Bar Association for his outstanding pro bono service during the past year. The Nassau County Bar Association will host its second annual Access to Justice Pro Bono Recognition event on April 6, 2016.

Devyn Mills ’15 has joined Berlandi Nussbaum & Reitzas LLP as an associate. She previously worked as a law clerk at Conway & Conway Attorneys at Law.
