Professor Catherine Powell co-authored The “Welfare Queen” Goes to the Polls: Race-Based Fractures in Gender Politics and Opportunities for Intersectional Coalitions, an article that was published in a special edition of The Georgetown Law Journal, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. The article takes an intersectional look at the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, as well as the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment, which granted the right to vote to Black men.
