Professor Howard Erichson was quoted in a Law360 article discussing changes in transportation law over the past year.  

The U.S. Supreme Court in March clarified the limits of specific personal jurisdiction by ruling that Ford Motor Co. could be sued in Montana and Minnesota over accidents involving used cars initially sold out-of-state with purportedly defective tires or airbags.

Fordham Law School professor Howard Erichson, who specializes in civil litigation, described the justices’ March ruling in the Ford case as “common sense,” because plaintiffs should be permitted to sue in their home state where their injuries occurred as long as the defendant had significant related contact with that state.
