This spring, the Office of International and Non-J.D. Programs hosted 54 lawyers and graduate students from the Centro de Estudios Garrigues in Spain for a program in U.S. Business Law and Practice. This marked the seventh year of the program, which brings students from Garriuges’ master’s degree in International Business Law program to study the practice of law in the U.S.

This year’s program, running from March 28 to April 8, combined classroom training with institutional visits. The classroom sessions, taught by a mix of members of the Fordham Law full-time faculty and practitioners, covered topics such as Introduction to the U.S. Legal System, Comparative Corporate Governance Law, Corporate Finance, Contract Drafting and Negotiation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Intellectual Property, International Arbitration, International Law/Comparative Law, and U.S. Litigation. Program participants also visited the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, the New York City Bar Association, and the offices of law firm Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller. The program also offered an optional session on LL.M. programs in the U.S.

“We are delighted that the Centro de Estudios Garrigues again chose Fordham Law to play this important role in the education of their master’s students,” said Toni Jaeger-Fine, Assistant Dean for International and Non-J.D. Programs. “We value this relationship and enormously enjoy working with these young professionals during their stay in New York City.”
