Tanecia Vasquez ’23 and Ronald Britt II ’23
Married on January 20, 2024

Tanecia and Ronald met in Central Park during a Black Law Students Association event in their first month at Fordham Law. From then on, they spent a lot of time studying together in the Maloney Library and exploring New York City.

“Ron always found ways to make me laugh and smile, whether we were studying for our respective classes or walking home from class—we’d always have the best time together,” said Tanecia.

Ron says it was Tanecia’s “beautiful smile” that first drew him to her. “It warmed my heart, the first moment she looked at me.”

After dating all throughout Law School, the couple got married a few months after graduation, and are now both working at law firms in the city.

Amy Itzla ’94 and Robert Itzla ’94
Married on April 20, 1997

Robert and Amy met in 1995 at their first Fordham Law Alumni Association Luncheon after graduation. The luncheon was held at the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan and afterwards the two made their way to the bar, started chatting, and began dating soon after.

The Waldorf would become central to their love story. Bob chose the Waldorf as the location of his proposal, and a year later, after their wedding reception, they had their limo take them to the Waldorf to reminisce about their first meeting.

Amy, whose maiden name is Spivak, said that what first drew her to her husband was that “his strong ambition and work ethic was combined with a quiet sweetness and sense of calmness.”

Today, Bob and Amy are proud parents to Emma and Andrew, who are both college students. Amy works as a labor and employment arbitrator while Bob has retired at the rank of Detective Captain after 32 years in law enforcement.

Sharon McCarthy ’89 and Antonio Molestina ’89
Married on August 27, 1995

Sharon and Antonio met in line while buying their law books during their 1L year. They were in many of the same classes, and both ended up getting jobs in the legal department at the Dreyfus Corporation.

Our friendship deepened over the years, along with our mutual respect and admiration,” said Sharon. It wasn’t until three years after graduation that the two started dating and in 1995 they married.

Today, the couple lives in Brooklyn Heights, where they raised their 24-year-old twins, Ana and Alejandro, both of whom are out of college, working in the city and living on their own.

Sharon is a white-collar criminal defense attorney at Kostelanetz and Tony is Chief Legal Officer for ABN AMRO. Both are involved in various non-profit organizations, including Fordham Law School, where Sharon served as the first woman president of the Fordham Law Alumni Association.

Katharine Parker ’92 and Bret Parker ’93
Married on September 18, 1994

Katharine and Bret will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this September. Their secret to a long and happy marriage? “Always supporting the other person and what they want to do and how they want to grow,” said Katharine. “And humor. Humor and lots of chocolate chip cookies.”

The couple met at Fordham Law in 1991 when Katharine was a 2L and Bret was a 1L. Bret first noticed Katharine in the library and then met her at a Fordham Law happy hour event.  “I thought Katharine was incredibly mysterious and smart and very attractive,” said Bret.

When Bret, a native New Yorker, asked Katharine what she wanted to do in New York City and hadn’t done yet, she said she wanted to go to a jazz club and the two went to the Blue Note in Greenwich Village.

Today, Katharine is a United States Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York and Bret is executive director of the New York City Bar Association. They have two sons, Matt and Ben, who work in New York City.

Jenn Rosa ’04 and Brian Power ’07
Married on October 22, 2017

Jenn Rosa and Brian Power are both double Rams, having attended Fordham for their undergraduate and law degrees. But the two never actually met while they were at Fordham. It wasn’t until they were working as associates at Mayer Brown in 2011—Jenn in litigation, Brian in tax—that they finally connected. When they did, they found out they had even more in common, and at one point had lived just a block away from each other in Queens.

The couple now lives in Bronxville and in their free time enjoy traveling to destinations like Italy and France and spending time at the Jersey Shore, where Brian proposed in 2016. Jenn is a partner at Mayer Brown and is also a member of the FLAA Board. Brian is a director and senior tax counsel at IBM.

According to the couple, there are some benefits to being married to another lawyer. “It’s nice to have someone who gets the crazy hours and some of the stresses and the pressures,” said Jenn. “Even though what we do is a little bit different, we kind of understand what each other is going through in a way that someone in a different industry might not.”

Atara Kahn ’24 and Avi Tessone ’24
Married on August 20, 2023

Atara and Avi are newlyweds and current 3L Fordham Law students. They first met in Central Park the weekend before 1L orientation when they were introduced by a mutual friend. The two slowly got to know each other over the course of their 1L year, and were officially dating by summer.

Through studying together we just realized what a great team we were and how similar we were in our ways of thinking and how we approach challenges and life in general. We were best friends,” said Atara.

When it came time to pop the question, Avi chose a location not too far from Fordham, in front of the fountain at Lincoln Center. Now the couple are living on the Upper West Side and taking two classes together this semester. After graduation, they’ll both be working at firms in the city, just a few blocks away from each other.

Juana Bergoglio, LL.M. ’20 and Michael Vaz d’Almeida, LL.M. ’19
Married on January 2, 2021

Juana and Michael had a cupid-inspired first encounter, meeting on Valentine’s Day in 2019 at an event for Fordham Law international students (Juana is from Argentina and Michael is from France).

“I was trying to interact with as many people from Fordham as possible, since it was my second month in NYC and I did not know many people. So I walked towards him and introduced myself,” said Juana.

“We pretty much kept talking the rest of the night until everybody was leaving,” added Michael.

The couple now lives in Jersey City, NJ, with their 16-month-old daughter, Willa. Michael works at a law firm in midtown while Juana is a full-time mom.
